Bible Verses:

Numbers 13

2 Kings 7:1-20

Janes 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

Matthew 12:34 “You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Topics Discussed:

God’s Word

  • Do we as believers put our hope, faith and trust in God’s Word and do we elevate God’s Word above all else?
  • You cannot just listen to God’s Word. You must do what God’s Word says.
  • We can’t just talk the talk we have to walk the walk.
  • God told Joshua to meditate on the Word of God and if he did, he would be successful in all he did.
  • We have two choices: Do you believe God’s Word or do you believe your circumstances?

Faith

  • Faith is trusting and believing in God’s nature, His character and His WORD.
  • Fear is not the opposite of faith. Sight is the opposite of faith.
  • Faith is what we have to offer. It is where we are putting our trust and belief.
  • Faith is an action.
  • Faith is how we receive from God.

Doubt/Unbelief

  • Doubt and unbelief hinder and even destroy faith.
  • Doubt and unbelief tend to be related to our natural senses – what we see and what we hear.
  • Doubt and unbelief can stem from disappointment, pain and trauma experienced in our lives.

Practical Ways to Find Your Firm Foundation in God’s Word

  1. Know God’s Word
  • We have to study God’s Word so we can spot the counterfeit lies the enemy tries to tell us.
  • We can’t know that what we’re believing is not truth if we don’t know what the truth is.
  • Renew your mind with the Word of God.
  • Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
  • What you listen to matters. Are you listening to things that are building up your faith in God or building up your faith in the world?
  1. Find Positive Godly Relationships
  • Be aware of your relationships.
  • Are the conversations you have with others speaking death, criticizing others, gossiping, etc.
  • Find a community of believers that will build your faith.
  • Find a mentor or a spiritual mother or father.
  • Surround yourself with others who have faith.
  1. What Are You Speaking?
  • Partner up with the Word of God and declare the Word of God over your circumstances.
  • Do not elevate your circumstances over God’s Word, elevate God’s Word above your circumstances.
  • Are you speaking words that line up with the Word of God or are you speaking words that line up with your circumstances?
