Topics Discussed:
Can you share a day in your life?
- Caroline spends the first part of her day reading her Bible and in prayer.
- Every day looks different, but she is mostly on her computer doing ministry.
- Caroline and Colby are a part of several different ministry leader teams.
- While everyday looks different, they have a very full schedule.
How long have you been in the ministry now? What would most people not know about it?
- The Ministry was never on Caroline or Colby’s radar. Caroline was a financial analyst, and Colby was a special agent for the government.
- However, they were called to the ministry, and they were obedient to that calling.
- Ministry leaders and pastors are on the front lines of spiritual warfare.
- Being on the front lines comes with lots of spiritual challenges.
- People tend to put pastors and ministry leaders on a pedestal, and they expect perfectionism from those people.
- Many Christians end up deconstructing their faith because they have built their theology and spiritual life on a person who is in leadership instead of on the word of God.
- Pray for your leaders and give them grace.
- It is difficult to pour out your heart and soul and everything to people and they receive from you and then they leave. It can feel very lonely at times.
- Ministry is 24/7. There is no turning it off – it is always on.
- Ministry leaders often receive a lot of criticism and hate from people.
Why don’t you share more openly about your infertility diagnosis?
- Caroline and Colby decided that is more wise to hold their story close to their hearts than it is to share with other people.
- What happens when they do share is they are confronted with mockery and unbelief.
- They want to steward and protect their story as well as stewarding and protecting their hearts.
- They do not need their faith level to be depleted by hearing others speak unbelief over them.
How long will you continue to have faith for a baby? At what point will you give up?
- It is not considered faith if it’s something that we let go of.
- Caroline and Colby are believing for something radical and that pleases the heart of the Father.
- If your faith is not radical, is it even faith?
- God rewards those who seek Him.
- Noah and the Ark, Abraham and Sarah, Joshua and the walls of Jericho are all examples of radical faith found in the Bible.
- Faith is not going to make sense. Faith should be offensive.
- Faith perseveres and does not give up.
Can you still be blessed by the Father if you are the only one in your marriage that is a Christian?
- Yes! Your relationship with God is personal.
- You are responsible to God. You are not responsible for your spouse’s relationship with God.
- Well done! Continue to pray that your spouse will have a radical encounter with God.
Can you explain John 9:3?
- God did not cause blindness and sickness.
- Jesus only does and says what He sees His Father doing and saying.
- Jesus came to heal sickness.
- Jesus was referring to the healing that was about to take place.
- God is healer. Satan was the cause of the sickness and blindness in this man.
What do you do if you and your husband seem to be on separate pages with big decisions?
- Honor each other.
- Agree to pray about it together.
- Remind each other that you are on the same team.
- Be intentional and choose to fast and pray about these bigger decisions.
- A lot of times, God speaks to one person before He speaks to the other so be patient with your spouse.
- If you are both seeking the Holy Spirit, you will arrive at the same conclusion.
How do you set boundaries for family members or friends who have previously caused you a lot of hurt?
- First, there needs to be forgiveness that takes place.
- Healthy boundaries are necessary. They keep you safe and they help you to protect and guard your heart.
- Ask the Holy Spirit what it looks like to put up healthy boundaries in your situation.
- There is no guilt that needs to be associated with a healthy boundary.
- Set the boundary and then stick to it.
