Bible Verses:

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Genesis 50:20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

1 Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.”

Isaiah 55:1-3 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you; my faithful love promised to David.”

Matthew 25:1-13 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ “Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Acts 10:34 “Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.”

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2 Timothy 1:6 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”

James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Topics Discussed:

Buying Oil

  • It’s important to let the Word seep deep into our heart.
  • When Jesus comes with the Word it allows our hearts to receive everything, He wants to give us.
  • Oil represents the Holy Spirit and intimacy with God.
  • God does not hide things from us. He hides things for us.
  • God wants us to come to Him for revelation and knowledge.
  • We can walk through hard things and still not get oil.
  • If we want the hard seasons of our life to produce oil, we have to be willing to lay on the altar and let the fire of His Holy Spirit burn us up.
  • You don’t get oil unless it costs you something.
  • Oil costs us something because something has to die in order for us to store it up.
  • Oil is available and we have the opportunity to buy enough oil to store and to live off of, but we have to make the decision to do it.

Spiritual Hunger

  • We have to get to the point where we are dissatisfied with spiritual milk.
  • We have to get to the point where we realize that you have to go after the kingdom by force if you want something from God.
  • If you’re waiting on God to just drop the “easter egg” right in front of you then you haven’t really tasted and seen.
  • When you have tasted and seen the goodness of God, there is nothing else that will satisfy.
  • In His presence is the fullness of joy; yet at the same time when I’m full, I’m always left wanting more.
  • If you’re not hungry, ask Him for more hunger.

True Salvation

  • There are many people who think that simply saying a prayer of salvation and asking Jesus to come into their heart means that they are going to Heaven.
  • Following Jesus means that we are telling Jesus that He is the Master and Lord over our lives.
  • We have to rearrange and reprioritize everything in our lives to put Jesus at the very top.
  • He would rather us give Him all and it be a little, then us have a lot and give Him a tiny bit.
