41. But Really, What is Rest?
What is Biblical rest? Is it more naps and going to bed earlier? Well, maybe. More than that rest is a posture of our heart that we get to live from. It’s an actual place Jesus has purchased for us as our inheritance. Are you fully aware of the rest you have in the finished work of the cross? Listen in to Caroline and Jessica as they share their journeys of being high achievers and learning what it really means to rest.
“His left hand cradles my head while his right hand holds me close. I am at rest in this love.” Song of Songs 2:6
“Your hearts can soar with joyful gratitude when you think of how God made you worthy to receive the glorious inheritance freely given to us.” Colossians 1:12
“And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” Romans 8:15
“Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth.” Psalm 46:10
